This topic describes how to connect add a PayPal account to the Rebilly sandbox and live environments.

Add PayPal to the live environment

This section describes how to add a PayPal account in the Rebilly live environment.

Important

To use PayPal in a live environment, you must have "Reference transactions" activated. If this is not already active, contact your PayPal account manager to activate this.

  1. Log in or sign up to Rebilly.
  2. In the left navigation bar, in the bottom corner, click your initials, then click Live environment.
  3. In the left navigation bar, click Settings .
  4. In the Configuration section, click Gateway accounts.
  5. Click Add gateway account, and then select PayPal.
  6. In the Gateway account ID field, enter a unique alphanumeric value. Use a value that is easy to recognize in your reports. This ID is used in other configuration screens, and is how this account is referenced within the API.
  7. In the Select currencies field, enter the currencies that your PayPal account supports.
  8. Optionally, configure advanced gateway settings.
  9. Click Save gateway account.
  10. You are redirected to a PayPal log in screen. To connect your PayPal account, enter your business PayPal account credentials.
  11. Perform test transactions.

Add PayPal to the sandbox environment

This section describes how to add a PayPal account in the Rebilly sandbox environment.

  • By default reference transactions are enabled in the Rebilly sandbox environment.
  • Connecting a PayPal gateway account in the sandbox environment requires sandbox credentials from PayPal.

1. Locate your sandbox log in credentials

To locate your PayPal sandbox log in credentials, see How do I find my Sandbox API credentials?.

Take note of the Email ID, and System generated password values.

2. Create a sandbox PayPal gateway account in Rebilly

  1. Log in to your Rebilly sandbox environment.
  2. In the left navigation bar, click Settings .
  3. In the Configuration section, click Gateway accounts.
  4. Click Add gateway account, and then select PayPal.
  5. In the Gateway account ID field, enter a unique alphanumeric value. Use a value that is easy to recognize in your reports. This ID is used in other configuration screens, and is how this account is referenced within the API.
  6. In the Select currencies field, enter the currencies that your PayPal account supports.
  7. Optionally, configure advanced gateway settings.
  8. Click Save gateway account.
  9. You are redirected to a PayPal log in screen. To connect your PayPal account, enter your business PayPal account credentials.
  10. Perform test transactions.
